OutlookUnlocker - Unlock Blocked Attachments

A free .Net based utility for enabling blocked email attachments in Microsoft Outlook.

By default Microsoft Outlook is configured to block specific file attachments based on file extensions. This is useful in most scenarios to prevent the spread of email viruses and to keep your pc secure. However sometimes you may want to override this behaviour in order to open attachments from known sources which are otherwise inaccessible.

The OutlookUnlocker application can be used to enable or disable specific attachments within Outlook. You will need to restart Outlook for settings to take effect.

OutlookUnlocker Application

Download the Outlook Unlocker application and launch the application using the start menu item, or by launching the OutlookUnlocker.exe.

Enter extensions to be blocked or unblocked into the blocked/unblocked lists accordingly.

Once the extension is added it can be moved into the blocked or unblock lists by highlighing the item and using the < and > arrows.

Items can be removed from blocked and unblocked lists by highlighing an item and using the X button. Extensions not listed revert to the default Outlook behaviour for those extension types.

Outlook 2003/2007 OutlookUnlocker Addin

The Outlook Unlocker Addin installs an additional Unlock Attachments tab to the Options menu within Outlook, and allows control of attachments from within Outlook.

Use the link above to download the Addin and launch the setup.exe application to install the Addin.

Once installed restart Outlook and access the Tools->Options menu. The Unlock Attachments tab is then available. Add extension types to the block or unblock lists to control access to the respective file attachments. Restart Outlook for changes to take effect.
